đ Elementary Farm Day: GoatsÂ
Get ready for a fun and interactive morning learning all about goats! During Goat Day, students will meet our friendly herd of dairy and meat goats and discover what makes these animals such an important part of homestead life. Children will learn about goat breeds, behavior, and temperament, as well as how we keep our goats healthy through proper diet, grooming, and hoof care.
Students will observe and participate in hands-on tasks such as brushing, feeding, and simple handling techniques. Weâll talk about how to read goat body language, what to look for in a healthy goat, and how farmers care for newborn kids.
After goat time, students will enjoy visiting the rest of the animals around the farm, making this day a rich blend of education, confidence-building, and unforgettable farm experiences.
đ Elementary Farm Day: ChickensÂ
Chicken Day introduces children to the fun and fascinating world of backyard poultry! Students will meet our flock of laying hens, bantams, and turkeys as they learn the basics of chicken care. Weâll cover safe handling (including how to correctly hold a chicken), how eggs are produced, what chickens eat, and how farmers keep their birds healthy.
Children will learn the differences between breeds, how to identify a rooster versus a hen, and what makes a good backyard flock. Students will also head into the coop to gather eggs and will help prepare a special chicken treat that they can feed to their new feathered friends.
We end the session with free time to visit all the farm animals, making this an exciting and confidence-building day for young learners.
đ Elementary Farm Day: RabbitsÂ
Rabbit Day gives students an up-close look at both fancy and meat rabbit breeds, including our lionheads and New Zealand/California rabbits. We begin by learning the parts of a rabbit, what makes each breed unique, and the many ways rabbits are used on homesteads.
Students will explore proper rabbit care, including diet, grooming needs, handling, habitat, enrichment, and how to perform simple health checks. Weâll talk about safe ways to pick up and hold a rabbit, how to recognize stress signals, and what rabbits need to stay healthy and happy.
Students will complete a rabbit-themed craft before wrapping up the morning with time to visit the rest of the farm animals. This class is perfect for young animal lovers eager to learn gentle care and responsibility.
đ± Elementary Farm Day: GardenÂ
Garden Day invites children to step into the magical world of growing food! Students will experience hands-on garden tasks such as planting, watering, harvesting (season permitting), exploring soil, and identifying herbs and vegetables.
Weâll talk about what plants need to grow, how to care for a garden through the seasons, and how farms use compost and mulch. Children will learn to identify common garden tools, safely use kid-friendly equipment, and understand the difference between fruit, vegetable, and herb plants.
Along the way, students may taste fresh produce, smell aromatic herbs, and learn how insectsâboth helpful and harmfulâplay a role in the garden ecosystem. After garden time, weâll finish with a visit to the farm animals, creating a rich and memorable farm-day experience.
